PETITION AGAINST THE EXISTING DENIAL OF LYME BORRELIOSIS IN ORDER TO GET FULL OFFICIAL RECOGNITION Lyme Borreliosis (also known as Lyme disease), a disease caused by a tick bite, constitutes a major health issue in terms of prevention, diagnosis and treatment in France. In 2010, 900 000 people have been treated in Germany whereas only 5 000 cases were officially recorded in France even if it represents a pandemic health issue affecting the whole country. LYME BORRELIOSIS has been subject to DENIAL by PUBLIC AUTHORITIES! Public Health Authorities must react strongly to ensure prevention, diagnosis, provide treatment and find a cure, by establishing preventive measures, and giving an accurate diagnosis to the thousands of patients who get false negative test results to have access to a reliable, standardized serology based on European strains of the Borrelia bacteria. Patients, Medical practitioners, Biologists and all those who are concerned due to their practice or environment, we collectively make the following URGENT REQUEST: 1. PREVENTION AT A NATIONAL LEVEL INCLUDING THE PROVISION OF INFORMATION to the general public everywhere in France as well as PROVIDING TRAINING TO HEALTH PROFESSIONALS (non existent to this day). 2. REVISION OF SCREENING AND TREATMENT PROTOCOLS FOR LYME DISEASE (currently used protocols became obsolete!) with the scientific support of international independent experts, medical practitioners and researchers from different areas. 3. THE END OF PERSECUTION AND OPPRESSION AGAINST HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS (MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS / PHARMACISTS / BIOLOGISTS) WHO REMAIN COMMITTED TO THIS CAUSE for many years to FIGHT THIS DISEASE, by using internationally known proven methods which were not validated in France as well as RESPECT for the work and dedication of laboratories (such as LAM Schaller, Nutrivital and its product Tictox) in developing new diagnostic protocols and alternative treatments. 4. FULL RECOGNITION OF LYME BORRELIOSIS AS WELL AS ITS CHRONIC FORM, currently being denied in France, when left untreated, the disease eventually worsens and affects a growing number of people of all ages each year. 5. TRANSPARENCY concerning the EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STATUS of the disease, its DIFFUSION as well as bacterial TRANSMISSION, in order to be able to assess the current status of blood transfusion or placental transmission. 6. ALLOCATION OF FUNDS TO BE USED FOR EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SURVEILLANCE AND RESEARCH since the current situation shows lack of preparedness to face such a serious public health problem. THERE IS AN URGENT NEED FOR GOVERNMENTS TO TAKE FULL RESPONSABILITY IN THIS MATTER We call for a mobilization of all patients as well as those having a family member affected by this disease, and also doctors to sign this petition and thus exert pressure on government authorities (CPAM, HAS, ARS, Medical College, Ministry of Health) Join us ! Thank you for signing. March 5 2012 For further information: RBLF-cimt, Lyme borreliosis, co-infections and tick borne diseases French network : http://www.reseauborreliose.fr
